It’s 4.57 a.m. I’m listening to a podcast on gratitude. I’m supposed to pay attention to this podcast, but I’m irritated because some people don’t like to say thank you. However small the gift, action, thought, or gesture, saying thank you shows appreciation to the giver.
I remember a time when a student’s parents gave me a small note with the word ‘Thank you’ and I still keep the note. It was a simple gesture, but it meant a lot to me. I really, really appreciate their thoughts and feelings.
Every day, we are given numerous opportunities to say terima kasih or thank you to someone. Whether it’s after a meeting, when someone holds the door for us, and in many other situations, there’s always a reason to express gratitude.
The Prophet S.A.W. imparted a profound wisdom on gratitude: He who doesn’t thank the people is not thankful to Allah. This hadith carries a powerful message about the importance of acknowledging the kindness of others.
